The Project Brief

DH Designs were tasked with redesigning Woods’ existing website which was very outdated. The main goals of the project were to modernise the design of the website, allowing Woods’ fantastic exhibition stands to be shown off in their full beauty. The new website was also designed to be fully responsive, scaling to any screen size with ease.

The website was developed using a mixture of WordPress for the backend and Gatsby for the frontend. Using WordPress makes it easy for users to edit the website, adding & editing content as required. Creating the frontend with Gatsby is ideal as the website is fast & secure, plus we can make use of their excellent image libraries to enable lazy-loading of the large number of project images on Woods’ gallery page.

One of the most important aspects of the website is the project gallery page. This page offers an easy to use interface where website visitors can browse through Woods International’s large catalogue of projects without over-complicating matters. Clicking on a project image will open zoom functionality to allow quick navigation.

The grid layout was designed to not only look great on desktop, but will scale down to mobile devices too.
